INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

THE HISTORY

The traditional art of Indian head massage is based on the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda,

Ayurveda has been practised in India for over 5000 years and it is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system in India. Ayurvedic medicine is a holistic healing system which combines natural therapies and encompasses the mind, body and spirit. Its aim it to restore balance and inner harmony to the mind, body and spirit to improve the health of the person.

Indian head massage was originally designed for use on the head: This has now been developed to include other parts of the body vulnerable to stress, such as the shoulders, upper arms and the neck.

It is important to realise that there is an integral relationship between the head, neck, shoulders and upper arms and by incorporating these parts the treatment becomes more of a stress management treatment.

WHAT IS INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian head massage is a treatment involving the therapist using there hands and forearms to knead, rub, and squeeze the body’s soft tissue, such as the muscles. This can either be very relaxing or invigorating for the client, also very relaxing.

BENEFITS OF INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

¨      It increases blood circulation to the head, neck and shoulder bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the area.

¨      It can help relieve eyestrain and tension headaches as muscular tension is eased.

¨      The increased lymphatic flow helps to get rid of toxins and other waste products, so aids detoxification of the body

¨      It breaks down fibrositic nodules, commonly known as “knots”, which develop from tension within the muscles.

AYURVEDIC FACELIFT MASSAGE

ANCIENT THEORY

The techniques used in facelift massage have in principle come from the ancient culture, but has been complemented by more modern methods. The main techniques used come from Ayurvedic healing system.

The word Ayurvedic is derived from two roots in Sanskrit: “Vida”, meaning “Science” and “ayus”, meaning “life”, so it translate to” the science of life”

This holistic therapy works on physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

Ayurveda believes that individuals have their own distinctive balance of three types of subtle energies or dosha.

These are: Vata dosha, Pitta dosha and Kapha dosha. Although they regulate thousands of different functions in the mind-body system, they have three basic functions: Vata-controls movement, Pitta-controls metabolism and Kapha-controls structure.

Ayurveda teaches that every cell in the body needs all three energies to be well balanced.

WORKING ON THE STRUCTURE OF THE SKIN

Face lift massage will also work on the structure of the skin; it may ease restrictions and so lift up the face. Most of the skin is made up of connective tissue, which is formed from fibers of proteins such as collagen and elastin. These fibers weave together to form a flexible web-like structure.

In younger tissue, the fibers slide past each other freely giving suppleness and flexibility. But sadly over time, toxic by-products build up in the skin, causing the fibers to lock together, so the skin loses much of its elasticity.

HOW DOSE FACELIFT MASSAGE WORK?

Facelift massage is a gentle, non-invasive treatment, to aid in younger looking skin.

Although its impossible to fend off the aging process altogether, you can help to delay this process. The light and gentle touch that is used in facelift massage help the muscles to relax and acts on the connective tissue to help untangle and mobilize the fibers and encourage the ground substance to loosen up and become more fluid.
